
There isn't a whole lot on the nose of this one. Very pale gold with little head or retention despite visibly lively CO2 within. Poured cold from a can into a pint glass. before my recent tripto canada, i had never heard of nor seen this beer, must stay pretty local. a lot of these i wouldnt want to drink a canadian 20 ounce pint of, but this is one of the few i would. fizzy carbonation, non watery body, pretty solid yellow beer. its macro lager, but dressed up just a little bit, and i actually think i prefer this to some of the american brands in the same style. very very little hops here, none in the nose at all, and just the faintest grassy thing at the end, along with what might be a little corn. the grain is familiar and robust, both bringing more body and more flavor than a lot of these have, but staying extremely crisp and drinkable, as any middle sweetness is cleaned up before the finish. the lager yeast is flavorless, and in a pilsener beer, i always miss it when it isnt there. this one is fairly well refined, but is a bit boring as they go. There are so many of these light euro type lagers around ontario, it seems everyone, big or small, craft or corporate, is making at least one of them, and that the differences between many of them are slight. Wanna drink nostalgically? Grab some CANs of this beer! This is the kind of thing that filled 1950s to 1980s cooler until the Age of Enlightenment ocCANurred. It really was not all THAT bad & it would be a great lawnmower beer. Finish had a light malty sweetness, a light hoppy bitterness & a light corn flavor. 8=( Still, it was not as overwhelming as in some examples + this beer also had a light, grassy Noble hop bitterness which managed to assert itself in the face of the adjuncts. The maltiness was marred by a slight corn flavor & while I have loved Fritos since childhood, I do not really care for corn in my beer. The taste was actually MUCH cleaner than the nose had led me to expect, but at the same time, it did not really strike me as a GER Pilsner. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, not quite creamy, but definitely big for a Lager of any Style. Nose had a corn aspect, which was not particularly welcome, but nor was it overwhelming as so many have been.

Color was a gorgeous Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7) with NE-plus quality clarity, both allowing me to see into the future & calling forth The Gelt Gang of Mammon, Midas & Croesus to have a taste. This raised two-plus fingers of foamy, soapy, rocky, bone-white head with relatively good retention. This all begs the question, "CAN I get total satisfaction from this CANadian beer in/from a CAN?" The answer is forthCANming, following a Crack! of the vent & a slow, gentle Glug. Screw bottles! In fact, CANs are now screwing themselves!įrom the CAN: "Total Satisfaction Guaranteed 1-800-MOLSON 1" "After the famous Old Style formula". He brings CANs from his myriad travels & then apologizes for some of their quality (or lack thereof)! 8=O Hey, the origins of The CANQuest (tm) take us back to a far less enlightened time, when AALs were the norm & CANs were scoffed at in favor of bottles. If there is ever a CANQuest (tm) Hall of Foam, then I think that my local, in-person trader, should be in the first class of inductees.
